
My next interview is with Tyrone Christopher, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Idoll Magazine. Idoll a new magazine on the market shining a more intense light on the modeling and fashion industry. With two publications per year, readers get to experience the full scope of agency model culture, through popular blogs, and personal stories of makeup artists, photographers and stylists. I'm roped in by the seriously awesome photo shoot spreads. Idoll's goal is to bring balanced journalism and creative editorials by industry professionals, for industry professionals. I met Tyrone through a good friend of mine last year at the Standard Hotel. He is a great guy, super funny, and I'm so glad he took the time to answer a few questions for me! Giving some expert advice and insight, heres a quick look into the life of Idoll and Tyrone.
What is your passion?
Success and to retire by the time I'm 45.
Can you tell us a little about Idoll Magazine?
Idoll magazine is a publication about the Model • Agency • Industry, with an emphasis on agency models.
How were you able to begin Idoll?
It started with an inspiration to pave the way for agency models to not only be seen but heard.
Where did you first start your career?
My career begin when I was told whatever graphic you do in black and white, you can do on T's. I thought I was going to be rich….lol.
Which do you enjoy most: the aspect of fashion and the art about it, the models and creative minds of those who work in the industry or the business aspect of the fashion industry?
This question is loaded…lol. I enjoy the creative process of building a 'Stellar' issue, so I'd say, the models and creative minds of those who work in the industry.
What has been the most exciting project you have worked on?
The most exciting project I've worked on to date has to be the 'Phat Pack'. My non-profit organization for underprivileged artists.
Your proudest moment?
My proudest moment is when 'Idoll's' second Issue was published and seen inside Barnes & Nobles.
What is your inspiration for Idoll?
The belief that this magazine will brand and change the lives of a deserving 'agency models' who might go by unable to reach their potential, had it not been for 'Idoll'.
Where do you hope to take Idoll in the future?
The bible of the model • agency • Industry.
Do you feel that New York has enabled you to fulfill your passion?
New York definitely has the resources, however, it is I who have enable me to fulfill my passions.
Do you feel one thing in particular is important for fulfilling personal happiness or a passion?
Conviction!!!
Any Advice for those out there hoping to break into the fashion industry or publishing business?
Never forget Family, can't get far without them, Focus can't see clearly without it and Fun, if your not having it, your done.
