The Lion, the Witch and the Copycat.

Monday, 23 April 2012 09:44:47 Europe/London

Hello, hello? Statement: Fashion is one of the most influential elements in the world today. Each person’s style is unique, right? Everyone has their own label and by showcasing your ‘personal brand’ to the world each day you leave yourself open to interpretation. Style can represent different versions of you; it can visually shine and magnify your personality to others around you. It can a represent a mood you are feeling. How about you think of any celebrity that’s influenced you in some way. That’s a lot right? Think of how each time they walk in the public eye, what they wear instantly becomes desirable. Like CCKT’s ‘FOX’ jumper; Radio presenter and T.V. persona Fearne Cotton wore the top during a student tour and it instantaneously became sold-out, it became something people wanted and felt they needed. This illuminates the power of the person but also the control that fashion has on people; how it makes them feel. To some people, it could be the one thing they have control over. Through the media, one person’s style can become the new trend within a matter of days. Popularity is a good thing though…Spread the LOVE and PASSION people. Another valuable thing to point out: THE VOGUE FESTIVAL. For all those interested in anything from the fashion industry itself and photography to journalism and fashion films…GO. It’s happening this weekend, April 20th and 21st 2012 in the fashion capital of London town. If it is insanely impossible for you attend for no logical reason…keep up to date with the unmissable event on the Vogue website. Faces to be seen at the occasion include Pixie Geldof, Christopher Kane and Stella McCartney, among many more. Expect great things to come out of this festival. Thanks for tuning in this week everyone! Until next time… CCKT / Laura.

CCKT Has a new bloger Laura Mc Cabe !

Saturday, 14 April 2012 21:13:53 Europe/London

American Bound. Let me introduce myself, I am your new blogger for the up-and-coming fashion brand CCKT. My name is Laura McCabe and I am nineteen…..and all that jazz. I have a keen interest in writing and drama and hope you all tune in each week for an update on the blog as well as to check in on some of the new collection from CCKT! I want to say a few words about CCKT. Look out for this label. This is definitely fashion at its best. CCKT combines both fashion and art in a creative and unique way which hasn’t been done up to date. The raw element of fashion that CCKT has at its core enables the brand to grow and expand. Along with being on websites such as Asos and LookBook, CCKT is on a world-market playing field in the world of fashion and is captivating retailers from major fashion capitals, such as Barcelona and Paris. Now…I want to start with a festival that should be on everyone’s Bucket List! This month is the month of the legendary Coachella music festival 2012, which takes place in the sunny hills of California. Along with great acts, such as Avicii, Snoop Dogg and Swedish House Mafia to Bon Iver, Radiohead and Artic Monkeys, fashion is a leading aspect of this music and arts festival. The vast collaboration of music which shines throughout the festival mirrors the fashion trends which emerge from the diverse crowds who gather together during this event. The main trends that are emerging from this year’s festival include body-con dresses and cutout dresses (for those who dare), lace and accessories such as body-chain jewelry and those wide-brimmed hats (you know what I mean). In terms of trends in hairstyles, the most popular seem to be a ballerina bun and the fringe is back! So I hope you all are tempted to join in on the fun during the Coachella music and arts festival at one point and be a part of something truly amazing! Laura.

CCKT PHOTO SHOOT!

We are very excited at CCKT because we just completed our Summer 2011 shoot in London! It was an amazing day full of great shots, creative ideas, and talented people. Moving on foot from location to location we were able to capture some wonderful photographs to capture the concept of CCKT.

Our photographer, James went above and beyond. Full of energy and know-how…he really did produce a fantastic range of images for us to choose from. Our new catalog is now brimming with shot after shot of CCKT goodness!

We also had a videographer names Roger on the shoot. With him by our side, we were able to create a storyline that truly encapsulated the brand that is CCKT. Here is the link for you to check out the video now!

IDOLL

Monday, 9 May 2011 18:18:32 Europe/London

idoll     idoll2

My next interview is with Tyrone Christopher, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Idoll Magazine. Idoll a new magazine on the market shining a more intense light on the modeling and fashion industry. With two publications per year, readers get to experience the full scope of agency model culture, through popular blogs, and personal stories of makeup artists, photographers and stylists. I'm roped in by the seriously awesome photo shoot spreads. Idoll's goal is to bring balanced journalism and creative editorials by industry professionals, for industry professionals. Idoll is definitely one to look out for...

I met Tyrone through a good friend of mine last year at the Standard Hotel. He is a great guy, super funny, and I'm so glad he took the time to answer a few questions for me! Giving some expert advice and insight, heres a quick look into the life of Idoll and Tyrone.

What is your passion?
Success and to retire by the time I'm 45.

Can you tell us a little about Idoll Magazine?
Idoll magazine is a publication about the Model • Agency • Industry, with an emphasis on agency models.

How were you able to begin Idoll?

It started with an inspiration to pave the way for agency models to not only be seen but heard.

Where did you first start your career?
My career begin when I was told whatever graphic you do in black and white, you can do on T's. I thought I was going to be rich….lol.

Which do you enjoy most: the aspect of fashion and the art about it, the models and creative minds of those who work in the industry or the business aspect of the fashion industry?

This question is loaded…lol. I enjoy the creative process of building a 'Stellar' issue, so I'd say, the models and creative minds of those who work in the industry.

What has been the most exciting project you have worked on?

The most exciting project I've worked on to date has to be the 'Phat Pack'. My non-profit organization for underprivileged artists.

Your proudest moment?
My proudest moment is when 'Idoll's' second Issue was published and seen inside Barnes & Nobles.

What is your inspiration for Idoll?
The belief that this magazine will brand and change the lives of a deserving 'agency models' who might go by unable to reach their potential, had it not been for 'Idoll'.

Where do you hope to take Idoll in the future?
The bible of the model • agency • Industry.

Do you feel that New York has enabled you to fulfill your passion?

New York definitely has the resources, however, it is I who have enable me to fulfill my passions.

Do you feel one thing in particular is important for fulfilling personal happiness or a passion?
Conviction!!!

Any Advice for those out there hoping to break into the fashion industry or publishing business?
Never forget Family, can't get far without them, Focus can't see clearly without it and Fun, if your not having it, your done.

You can check out idoll online at www.idollmag.com or on Facebook: www.facebook.com/idollmag

Also, be sure to pick up an issue at newstands, or Barnes and Noble!!

NICO STINGHE

Tuesday, 26 April 2011 16:49:28 Europe/London

nico

Sometimes people think the only way u can be successful or prove your success is by working at a big name or exclusive company, or by having an impressive title. Other people find their careers as successful ones when they do what they are passionate about, and are HAPPY doing it.  What's success if your unhappy in it?

I am looking to find people who are successful because their passion is something they have made a career. Achieving happiness is the greatest success of life.

My first interview is with Montreal based photographer Nico Stinghe. Fortunately for him, he has achieved both aspects of success. He's worked with Mercedes Benz NYC Fashion Week, and shot in several European countries and American cities. He's shot for companies such as Aldo, Diesel, Adidas, and Simons, but also has made his love and passion for photography his career.

What is your passion?

I won't consider myself as a fashion photographer but mostly as a portrait photographer. Recently I shot too much in my studio and I needed to get out. Also, there are some brands that were interested in my work and asked me to apply what I do to their products. It's hard because they want to control something that I create with no intention of controlling. Maybe thats where the line of fashion vs portraits appears.

How did you begin your photography career?

My dad gave me a Zenith camera when I was 10 or so. He showed me how it works in 5 minutes and that was my only course in photography. later I was working in a restaurant and I asked them for a trade: food versus cleaning. I had so much food that I started to give it away in my building and thats how I met Mika, a photographer that was starving for 3 days. We became best friends and I saw that you can be a photographer [as a profession]. I really like documenting people.

How were you able to turn your passion into a career?

By doing it and showing around my work. I remember one day I went to a party and had my prints with me, so I showed them to everybody. I decided to do small gatherings of people and show prints.

Do you ever work in other fields of photography besides fashion?

objects, portrait. sometimes events.

What is your favorite piece of art you have created, and why?

I really like the photos I did with Veroushka, she is the soul of my work.

Where or what is your inspiration?

People I meet, ideas that come in my head and objects I find. I also improvise a lot.

Any other passions or hobbies?

Sailing boats. I did it one summer.

Any advice for those seeking a passion or an interest in photography?

I don't know. It's something very personal.

******************************************************************************

With so many amazing photographs to choose from, it was so hard to pick which ones to display on my blog. Here are a few of my favorites, but you can view Nico's portfolio at http://www.anothersidewalk.tv/

What Is Your Passion?

Wednesday, 20 April 2011 15:46:39 Europe/London

Do you have a passion?

Some people know what they want to do with the rest of their lives from an early age. Others take their  time and explore different  fields to discover what they are truly passionate about. I am one of those people. I always had things I liked to do, but nothing I was crazy about. As I continue to grow up, I have concluded on the things that I always find myself the happiest doing: one of them being cooking. The great thing about getting older is having the ability to evaulate what your passions are and then enjoy and fulfill them more and more.

Over the next few weeks I will be featuring people who have discovered their own passions. These are people who have chosen careers in music, food, fashion, art, or design. One of my favorite things about life is hearing stories of people who have discovered their passion and created it into their career. I hope you find these stories as motivating and inspiring as I have.

cckt at brunch

Thursday, 7 April 2011 21:32:58 Europe/London

Last week I went back to Collective brunch. The party was crazier than last time because of course once the word gets out about a party, the people flock to it! I wore my new CCKT shirt as did my good friend Magda who came to visit from Connecticut. We got so many compliments on the shirts and had such a great time. Check out the pictures below!

my spring favorites

Friday, 25 March 2011 23:06:18 Europe/London

It seemed we had spring in NYC last week- it was 70 degrees last friday! Of course, it was just a tease, and we are back to weather in the 40's. Nevertheless, I still went out on the weekend to browse for my favorite things for spring. I'm going to have a lot of saving to do because there was so much I loved!! It seems that white is going to be huge. My top pick is loose, white trousers. They can be worn casually to the beach or dressed up with cream wedges. I bought a white top as my first piece to my spring collection, but the rest of the wardrobe will have to wait! Below I've pictured some of my favorite items available now on www.shopbop.com

Spring!

Monday, 7 March 2011 18:22:59 Europe/London

When the weather gets nice in New York, suddenly everyone’s mood changes. People seem happier, fashion changes, and the day just seems better. On Saturday it finally felt like spring. I was able to go out without a coat, and walk around without freezing half to death. I enjoyed an awesome lunch with my friend at French Roast, and we even got to sit outside! Spring in the city reminds me of why I love to live here so much, which is something I tend to forget during the winter, so I decided to tell you all a few of my favorite things New York has to offer.

Favorite Restaurant: Po.  A gorgeous, intimate Italian restaurant and funny enough it is located on my favorite street! www.porestaurant.com

Favorite Street: Cornelia Street. Right in the heart of the West Village, Cornelia Street is a  short, tree-lined street right off the busy Bleeker Street. It’s dotted with cute café’s and restaurants, and to me, feels like you are secluded from the hustle and bustle of NYC.

Favorite clothing store: All Saints Spitalfield

Favorite Pizza Place: Rosella’s Pizzeria. Located right next to my apartment which is sometimes a bad thing.

Favorite things to do with friends: Go bowling at Lucky Strikes.

Favorite Chinese food: Philippe Chow. So expensive but absolutely the best Chinese ever. www.philippechow.com

Best area for shopping: Broadway in Soho. Anywhere from Canal Street to West Houston Street. All your favorites: Zara, H&M, All Saints: Armani Exchange, Top Shop, Madewell and more.

Best area to window shop: 5th Avenue. 47th-59th street. All the best designers: Prada, Louis Vitton, Fendi, Dolce and Gabbana, Emporio Armani, and more.

Favorite rooftop: Le Bain at the top of the Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District. From one side you can see the Empire Etate Building, the other side looks over the Hudson River. Just gorgeous.

le bain rooftop

Best walk: West 4th street to Perry Street along Bleeker Street. I love to walk here and look at the window displays. Also, the famous Magnolias Cupcakes are located here, so it’s even more of an incentive to walk here!

Favorite club: May be biased, but I always have the best time at Juliet Supperclub.

Best place for sweets:  Baked by Melissa Cupcakes. These cupcakes are the size of a quarter, but are packed with so much flavor. They offer flavors such as smores, chocolate chip pancake, red velvet, rainbow, peanut butter cup, cookies and cream, and cookie dough. I always buy 6 at a time!! www.bakedbymelissa.com

baked by melissa

While these are just a few of my own favorite things, the best thing about New York is that is has so much to offer, each person has their own favorite things. I just hope the weather continues to improve because I am so ready to switch over into my spring wardrobe!

where you are/who your with

Thursday, 3 March 2011 04:14:16 Europe/London

When I was growing up, especially in my teenage years, all I dreamed about was living in a big city, attending fancy dress parties, and having an extravagant lifestyle. You see celebrities all over magazine covers and on TV shows like TMZ, broadcasting the amazing parties they’ve been to.  I moved to New York City because I was bored of my life in Connecticut. I thought that living in the city would offer me something to do every night, and that each night would be better than the last.  I think a lot of people glorify living in NYC. Yes, there are really great events that are created, but they aren’t always that much fun, just because they are in a cool location. This past weekend was just a reminder that parties in the city can feel just as dull as a party in my small hometown.

I had a whole weekend of events booked, but each one of them turned out to be a disaster! Thursday my friend and I checked out the new bar at the Mondrian SOHO Hotel. It has been all over Page 6 of The New York Post and very hyped up. We got there with high expectations. and although the place was beautifully designed, it was empty except for a midget in a top hat (not kidding.) So we left to check out our friend Claudius Raphael DJing at Cipriani’s downtown. That party too was a complete flop and Claudius never even got to play his set!  I checked out the new brunch party at Collective in the meat packing district on Sunday, hoping for redemption of the weekend. It didn’t happen unfortunately.

To wrap up the weekend I thought two things: Are celebrities bored with the events they go to? Are the overhyped events the ones that turn out to be the least enjoyable ones? Based on this weekend I can say that it doesn’t matter where you are but who your with that makes the party.

Blog number one !

Saturday, 19 February 2011 09:56:49 Europe/London

In New York City, the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is one of the most anticipated events of the year. On Friday, February 11 Juliet Supper Club helped kick off the Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Week by hosting the NOONI Search for the Most Stylish New Yorker Party. NOONI is an accessories label based in Los Angeles, California. The founder, Vicki Vlachakis and her creative team are known for their unique shapes, patterns and futuristic style of handbags and clutches. Juliet and NOONI were on the hunt for the trendiest male or female.

                                   Medium Corset Tote in Carrera

Of course I would like to believe I am the city’s most stylish, but my good friend Steve won the contest thanks to his “teddy bear sneakers.” Steve prized NOONI’s Duetto Crocodile Cuff with hand-sewn Swarovski crystals PLUS a bottle of champagne to celebrate the coveted title.  I’m sure his girlfriend is a very happy woman!

Niamh versus Steve…. Who would you pick?!

Niamh Soraghan CCKT new Bloger lets bring on the city !

Saturday, 19 February 2011 09:44:01 Europe/London

Hi! My name is Niamh Soraghan, I’m 21 years old and I live in New York City! I go to college here in Manhattan and I study Communications.  One more year to go and then I hit “the real world.”  Living in New York gives me so many exciting opportunities and experiences and I look forward to sharing them with you. Right now I intern for Greenhouse Nightclub and Juliet Supperclub and I also babysit during the week. All while taking 18 credits at school! My dream job would be to be a creative director. Until then I am just a babysitter and a college student. Some of my favorite designers include Alexander Wang, Derek Lam and Nicole Miller.  For now, I admire their work, but one day I hope my work and the work of CCKT will be an inspiration to others.

CCKT – Birmingham, England, December 2010

Tuesday, 14 December 2010 19:58:49 Europe/London

CCKT – Birmingham, England, December 2010

The NEC show is six-day long clothes show available for smaller and bigger brands to promote and sell their products to the public. CCKT was there for the second year in a row to sell their jumpers, t-shirts, crop tops, vest tops, accessories etc.

The show is a great opportunity to physically meet the buyers and other people in the same business since CCKT, at the moment, only sell their products through the online shop.

The CCKT stand was packed and we’re asked time after time where our actual store is located… So we where very happy (: We also had a lot of positive comments about our execution of the stand, which was looking like an actual store (look at the photos!! ).  Way cleaner and more organized than a lot of the other stands (:

CCKT all so won the best stand for the second year in a  row well what can I say ? only the best from us !

Big thanks to the team taht helped out over the week !!! would have been a mess with out use all ! Chess Smart ,Katie Elizabeth Faulds , Amanda Bärj and the only man mr Ross Faulds !!!

so thanks to all (:

CCKT had an overall successful week  and we will see you next year !!!!!

SHEN PLUM

Thursday, 8 April 2010 21:47:33 Europe/London

Supernatural T’s

Shen Plum has been one of CCKT’s artists right from the launch of the company back in December of 2009.  Her designs such as ‘fox’ were showcased on the CCKT range at the NEC fashion week and were an immediate hit with the shoppers.

Based in Toronto, Canada, Shen draws a lot of her inspiration from Western and Asain pop cultures and is heavily influenced by animals, nature, myths and fables.

Shen has been currently working on some new designs for CCKT and we are happy to announce the arrival of them.  What you can expect from this talented illustrator this time around is a moremythicaleerie feel to her designs, engaging you into the supernatural world.  You might even say that they are spooky!

To find out more about Shen and her illustrations you can delve into her creative world by following this link:

CCKT raises the temperature

Monday, 15 March 2010 11:29:35 Europe/London

CCKT raises the temperature at the West Coast Cooler Fashion week!

March 12th, the date that CCKT debuted its spring/summer 2010 collection at the Belfast’s award winning Fashion event.  Entered into the Students and Young Designers sector of the event, Katie McGuigan’s collection was marched down the catwalk by the vibrant models.

CCKT was subject to the eyes of more than 400 people that sat eagerly in the crowd, excited by the pink runway, funky décor and fresh talent.  Among these fashion devotees were numerous photographers and reporters from the local and national newspapers.  This was CCKT’s first taste of life on the runway and after the response from the crowd you should expect to see future showings.

The show was a great experience and success for CCKT and the exposure gained will be invaluable to the company and its young artists and designers.  CCKT would like to thank everyone that was involved in making this event possible and also to its young designers who continue to help us push the boundaries.

We will have photos of the event at the end of the week (:

thanks CCKT team

Zafar Shaikh

Introducing to CCKT is our new acquisition, Mr Zafar Shaikh.  Zafar a talented artist who is not afraid to experience all forms of medium that include oils, acrylics, caricatures, portraits and so forth.

Most of Zafar’s inspiration has come from his on the road travels through Europe and Asia.  The experience gained through these different cultures and the contemporary issues that have affected the local environment and people are what has been the driving force behind his creativity

Zafarwas referred to CCKT through www.arttraffic.co.uk, which is a thriving online art gallery where Zafar currently showcases an array of his work for sale.  I urge you to take a little time and find out more about Zafar and Arttraffic, where you can find some of the best Art Contemporary on the Internet .

Belowis one of CCKT’s latest prints sporting one of Zafar Shaikh’s

cckt won best stand at the nec (:

Tuesday, 12 January 2010 20:15:11 Europe/London

CCKT won the "best stand award" at the NEC in Birmingham recently. Two CCKT employees were taken up
onto the catwalk to accept the award for Katie Mcguigan, owner of CCKT, after CCKT had provided the only
wooden stand in the entire NEC. The layout, designed by Miss Mcguigan herself, outshone the other competitors
by miles and CCKT designs were paraded up and down the catwalk in front of hundreds of top designers, just
the way it should be! As a result of the show and CCKT's success, www.cckt.co.uk has had a lot of
interest internationally over the past few weeks and more buyers than ever before havepurchased from
CCKT online.

all so check out CCKT on the catwalk !
it is certainly a very exciting time for CCKT as more  buyers and fans purchase more onsite everyday. Get involved
now and be a part of it!

CCKT photshot

Tuesday, 12 January 2010 20:00:22 Europe/London

All parties involved have been buzzing recently about CCKT's latest photoshoot. Such a successful
day in the studio set agreat foundation for future CCKT fashion shows and it went down a treat
with our models, fans and buyers; the pouts and poses have certainly been one of the reasons for
CCKT's sudden success. Katie Mcguigan provided clothes and candy for the crew and ran a professional
and successful shoot that the models referred to as the best they'd ever done. In order to see the
photographs of a great and fruitful day onsite at CCKT simply look through the clothing section of the site!

CCKT had a very special guest

Tuesday, 12 January 2010 19:55:53 Europe/London

CCKT had a very special guest at the NEC in Birmingham recently. Whilst at the Birmingham fashion show,
on a CCKT stand that eventually won "best in the competition",
Hollyoaks star Amy Yamazaki also known as Charlotte Lau on hollyoaks ! came in and bought some of CCKT's best selling designs.
fox jumper and hart vest top

was also kind enough to get some pictures taken with some of the CCKT employees:
Let's hope that CCKT can keep pushing the boundaries and everybody can enjoy CCKT designs as much as Amy Yamazaki seemed to!

Live @ Last

Wednesday, 2 December 2009 00:02:28 Europe/London

“Capturing creativity is the essence of our dream. Showcasing that creativity to the world is ‘Our Piece’”

At long last we are live and kicking and overjoyed to be able to welcome you to the CCKT website were you will be able to explore what exactly it is that we do and browse through our collection to see how our dream has now become a reality. For the past twelve months we have been working hard to identify, capture and create the blend that is truly ‘Our Piece’, by identifying the most creative young artists from throughout the world to contribute to our collection.

We are starting our journey off running with December being an incredibly busy month for CCKT already. This week we will be exhibiting at the world’s biggest fashion and beauty show at the Birmingham NEC known globally as ‘The Clothes Show Live’. While, back in Northern Ireland we have teamed up with Grounded Espresso Bars to showcase our collection by sponsoring their uniforms for the month of December. Grounded is an award winning espresso and sandwich chain with outlets in both Newry and Belfast. If you happen to be in either city don’t forget to call in and see our collection live.

2010 is very clearly on the horizon and the CCKT team are working hard to develop our concept even further so as to provide an even greater stage for the CCKT artists to be showcased on. It’s been an incredible year and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us along the way. Finally, we cannot even begin to express how excited we are and truly hope that you enjoy wearing the clothes as much as we enjoy making them.

The CCKT Team
